Scott P. Seder spent the first 14 years of his legal career in public service, working in various capacities in the legislative and executive branches of the Illinois state government and the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office. Mr. Seder began his career as an Assistant Counsel to the Illinois House Speaker, where he reviewed legislation for House members and managed committee activities with Committee Chairmen. From there, Mr. Seder worked as an Assistant State’s Attorney, where he represented the State’s Attorney before the Illinois General Assembly, prosecuted crimes, and provided counsel on labor and employment matters.

At the State of Illinois, Mr. Seder served as General Counsel to the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation and Deputy Chief Operating Officer of the Illinois Department of Central Management Services. As General Counsel to the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, Mr. Seder managed all legal matters related to the agency’s regulation of licensed professionals. As Deputy Chief Operating Officer to the Illinois Department of Central Management Services, Mr. Seder created and implemented policies governing all manner of Illinois’ procurement activities.

Prior to starting the Law Office of Scott P. Seder LLC, Mr. Seder was a partner in a boutique Chicago law firm. While in private practice, Mr. Seder served as the SVP of Regulatory Affairs for a hemp extract company between 2019 and 2022. In that capacity, Mr. Seder was primarily responsible for overseeing the company’s interaction with local, state, and federal regulatory bodies. Mr. Seder is a graduate of Vanderbilt University (BA) and the Chicago-Kent College of Law, IIT (JD) and is licensed to practice in Illinois and the District of Columbia.
